Hello! Many new and exciting things are happening! Step right this way!

So many things to talk about, so little time. I have been trying to get a moment to sit down and blog with you all, but things have been busy.

First, Mark and I closed on our home on the Summer Solstice. We have been working on the house since that night and almost every night, hoping to get it all primed and at least a few of the rooms painted with the colors we have chosen. It’s a slow process, but it is coming along.

Since I haven’t had much time to cook, I really didn’t have much to blog about. For example, here’s the first meal we had in our new home:

Here’s a sneak peak of my new kitchen. Note, it is no longer that hideous blue color and will be a nice light green:

Now, for some great news. I was interviewed this past week for an article that will appear in The Burgh. You can also find them on Facebook. The interview was fun. When it is published later this week, I will provide a link to it and local city of Plattsburghians will get it in their mail box. The Burgh is a great newspaper that really knows what is going on in our community. The interview made me itch to get cooking again, but I know I need to be patient and finish the work on my house first.

Also, there is a great taco joint in town called Cheechako Taco. The food is great, the prices are great, and my friend Jimi just bought the place, so it makes things more personal there, not to mention that they also have a great selection of vegetarian food.

I stopped by Cheechako Taco about a week or so and was talking to Jimi about what he planned to do with the restaurant now that he owned it. One thing led to another and we were talking about vegan options for the menu, now that they were planning to add tempeh to the menu. I suggested a tequila lime marinade for the tempeh with some guacamole and other tasty toppings. He said he would see what he could do with it. He also asked where I was raised…but we will get to that later.

I checked ye olde Facebook last night and found out that indeed the tequila lime tempeh taco or burrito has been born. It is called the “Au Sable Forks” after the town I grew up in. How cool is that? You know, local businesses working with local bloggers makes me smile so darn much! I haven’t had a chance to try the meal out yet, but I know what I am having for dinner tomorrow night. Look for an update on the blog for a review and photos. My mouth is just watering thinking about it. Also, if you are looking for some cool local funk music to listen to, check out the proprietor of Cheechako Taco’s band Eat.Sleep.Funk.

Wow! So much! I also have a way overdue review for the a delicious sandwich I had a while back at The Great Adirondack Soup Company. It was so darn tasty, but alas, I have had no time to write it up.

Well friends, that does it for me. I think I am going to go paint some more now. I cannot wait to show you my new kitchen and the creations that will be coming from it. Until next time, have a great night and keep cooking!
